Jaime Kurnick

Chief Inspector Kurnick began her career with Gainesville Police Department on January 16, 2001 in the Operations Division. In the 21 years with the Department, she has worked in the Detectives Division, Community Action Team (Uniformed and covert unit), Violent Crimes Task Force, Crime Analysis Bureau, Training Bureau, Crime Prevention and the Mounted Unit. Her current assignment is to supervise the Internal Affairs Unit, the Research and Planning Unit, the Training and Education Unit, and the Accreditation Unit.

Chief Inspector Kurnick has a Bachelor Degree from State University of New York at Plattsburgh in Sociology with a minor in Criminology. She is a certified instructor in General Studies, Firearms, Driving, and Defensive Tactics where she serves as an adjunct professor for SFCC Institute of Public Safety. During her tenure, she has received the following awards: Distinctive Service Award, Award of Excellence (2x’s), Unit Citation (3x’s), Officer of the Year (2006), Officer of the Month (2x’s), and she was the Valedictorian of the Mounted Instructor School. In December of 2019, she graduated from the FBI National Academy in Executive Management.

Chief Inspector Kurnick has been active in the community along with her efforts at the Department. She created the Community Advocates program with Nora Kilroy from the University Of Florida to help students learn about Crime Prevention and advocacy within the University Community. She has been a past member of the City’s TEAM organization which promotes Community Service and Employee Recognition. She has been involved in the following Community Service activities: United Way Campaign, March of Dimes Campaign, Cell Phones for Soldiers, Law Enforcement Torch Run, Gainesville Little Ones, and the Women’s Leadership Conference.
